At Air Charter Travel we recognise the need to make flying carbon neutral and commit to protecting the environment. We’ve teamed up with 4AIR so that we can offer you, our Client, an easy solution to make your flying sustainable and carbon neutral.
What We Can Offer You
How Does It Work?
As part of our Charter proposal, we’ll show you the separate amount required to offset your emissions in relation to your trip. We recognise that you or your business may already be committed to an offset programme elsewhere, that’s why we give you, the client, the choice. Once confirmed, Air Charter will collate the flight sector information and pass this on to our partner (4AIR) who will in turn send you an invoice and allocate your contribution to one of their voluntary emission and greenhouse gas reducing programmes. It’s as simple as that!
Want To Go Further?
Why not consider making an increased contribution by using SAF?
Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) is a “drop-in” fuel that meets all the same technical and safety requirements as fossil-based jet fuel. SAF contains the same hydrocarbons (and thus the same tailpipe emissions) as fossil-based kerosene, but the difference is that the hydrocarbons came from a more sustainable source. This results in a net reduction of emissions when comparing to fossil jet fuel on a life cycle basis. Ask us for further details when you receive your quote.
How does Carbon Offsetting with Air Charter Travel work?
By supporting the funding of carbon offset projects like forestry and renewable energy that reduce emissions equivalent to the emissions from flying, offsets are purchased in an amount equal to your footprint and claimed in a public registry. You can fly with confidence knowing projects are independently verified to industry leading standards and permanently retired on behalf of Air Charter Travel and its clients. It is a seamless process for flyers as Air Charter Travel and 4AIR work together to ensure the appropriate volumes of credits are acquired and allocated for each flight.
How does supplying Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) with Air Charter Travel work?
If you decide you would like to operate with SAF, Air Charter Travel will collate the flight sector information and pass this on to our partner (4AIR). 4AIR will then help find opportunities for physical uplift of SAF. Should SAF be unavailable at your point of departure, they will assist with SAF supply via a Book & Claim transaction which facilitates the physical uplift of SAF with other business aviation operators while documenting and transferring legal ownership of the scope 1 (direct) environment credit for the fuel to you and introducing it into the system on another flight.
4AIR will maintain all the required documentation and can use Book & Claim to meet your Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) or compliance needs in the most sustainable and cost-effective way. Book & Claim allows SAF to be put into airports nearest its points of production, reducing the environmental impact of transportation. This can also mean sourcing SAF for less expense than physical uplift options.
4AIR makes incorporating SAF into your sustainability strategy as easy as possible. In addition to Book & Claim, they can assist with the proper documentation of your SAF usage. They compile all the necessary documentation for both your physical and virtual SAF purchases and aggregate it into a convenient monthly report for ESG or regular reporting needs.
If I book a flight with SAF, will sustainable fuel be used on my flight?
While sustainable aviation fuel may be used on your particular flight, it does not have to be in order to receive its benefit. Similar to a renewable energy credit, sustainable fuel is introduced into the fuel supply at one airport while the emissions reductions are claimed by a different aircraft. Most airports blend sustainable fuel into their existing fuel supply, so there is a chance you’ve already flown on sustainable fuel without knowing it.
Can I choose what projects my offset fund?
All your flights through Air Charter Travel can be offset by our partner 4AIR using a pre-set portfolio of carbon projects. If certain projects are designed, we can work with 4AIR to try to substitute in certain offsets.
Does my flight data get shared with 4AIR?
The Aviation industry has made large commitments to sustainability. The 4AIR program provides an opportunity to align with long-term industry goals and easily go beyond them. Most companies only think about the carbon footprint of aviation, however most of the climate impact comes from non-carbon sources such as nitrous oxides and contrail-induced cloudiness. Carbon offsetting is a short-term solution. The 4AIR program allows you to support and participate in the long-term solutions while making an impact outside of aviation.
